Los Angeles Erupts in Jubilation as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Fans across the globe joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a team has achieved consecutive championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Local events featured a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage show countless of Los Angeles residents flooding downtown streets, many carrying homemade signs and team flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an interpreter.
The procession path ended at the stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist driving a light blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began prior to the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented plainly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he stated. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner was met with a cooler reception at the celebration. Recordings from the event appear to show him walking onstage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with jeers interrupting his address.
The championship served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed equal or greater support.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
