Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former physician has been charged with committing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
